Mr. Watson is currently the CEO of Without Excuses and StrategicHire, located in Reston, VA.

Mr. Watson’s Without Excuses organization delivers professional development programs across a wide swath of executive skills – both hard and soft skills. Additionally, Mr. Watson specializes in the location of diverse middle and senior level management personnel across a broad range of industries.

In 2001, Mr. Watson served as Director of Personnel, for Virginia Governor Mark Warner’s Transition Team with primary responsibility for the construction of Governor Warner’s Cabinet and senior staff. Prior to this work, Mr. Watson spent significant time with the Eastman Kodak Company, the Gartner Group and Robert Half International.

Mr. Watson is Chairman of The Marathon Club - the leading National group focused on increasing the flow of investment capital to minority entrepreneurs and private equity firms, He was the cofounder of The Exchange, an African American CEO Council, former Chairman of the Virginia High Tech Partnership, former Chairman of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Boards of several commercial and non-profit entities.

Mr. Watson is a frequent speaker and advisor to a diverse array of organizations and corporations. A sampling includes: Rockefeller Foundation, The Creative Economy Conference/Fortune, AXA Equitable, Sodexho USA, Society for Human Resource Management, Executive Leadership Council, MTV Networks, Lifetime Television, NAMIC, Women’s Business Network, NABA, Time Warner, Freddie Mac, Hampton University, Sallie Mae and many others.

An engaging keynote speaker and accomplished entrepreneur, Joe Watson is a regular guest on the FOX News Network and provides frequent analysis on television shows such as The Today Show, CBS Early Show, CNN, and PBS; and he has been heard on radio stations such as XM Satellite, Sirius, Fox News, and CBS Market Watch etc. Publications that have featured his forward thinking perspective include The New York Times, Fast Company Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, Black Enterprise, Business 2.0, American Way Magazine, amongst many others.
